Founding Declaration of the Right to Health Movement Association

We have come together as;

  • citizens that demand our right to health care services from the public,
  • health workers striving to provide best service for all citizens under severe conditions and facilities,
  • intellectuals knowing that health is a sine qua non for the right to life,
  • activists aware that it takes struggle to attain the services that fulfil our rights,
  • volunteers that believe in the necessity of solidarity and participation in social life.

    WE ANNOUNCE THAT WE ORGANIZE IN ORDER TO ACCESS AND BENEFIT THE SERIVES THAT WE DEEM AS OUR “RIGHT TO HEALTH”

    We;

  • know that “right to health” is a “ natural right” that is acknowledged in international treaties and in our constitution, which enables our access to health services and benefit from them efficiently, making complete the meaning of “right to life”.
  • are aware that health services are “public duties” just like duties of “justice”, “security” and education” that must be provided by state and its institutions, emanating from the principle of “welfare state” in which “state exists for its citizens”, as enshrined in our national constitution.
  • believe that health services are not suspensible, dispensible or replacable, and that access to them constitute a basic citizenship right.

    In times we live in “OUR RIGHT TO HEALTH IS BEING VIOLATED”

    Because, just like in many other parts of the world, “health services” are rapidly being commercialized and privatized. We are aware that there can be no disposition of “health and freedom”. Commercializing and privatizating health further engenders violation of our right to live healthy.

    We have taken our departure to form a “democratic mass movement” in defending right to health, not only for the “Rights of Patients” in times of sickness, but also for the rights of people that to health care when they require in times sickness and health. Among us, there are those who have been with various other organisations that defened right to life. Our organisation will be one that will champion “right to health” as a single goal and entirity, including the whole society on the basis of “equality, solidarity, democracy and participation”.

    We announce the public of our founding of the RIGHT TO HEALTH MOVEMENT ASSOCIATION under the principle of “democratic mass movement”, which

  • believes that health services and institutions belong to us, and in that sense we “own” them,
  • knows and belive that health services can be provided to society as “equal, accessible and free”, and are determined to show any struggle for its realization,
  • makes it a principle that right to health can be created and entitled, and for this expansive, widespread and intense struggle should be undertaken,
  • demands the violated rights of those that experience problems “conceptually” and equally for all.

    With the frame of these aims, we call for participation, contribution, support and cooperation of all people in creating awareness and information for the public and the society, in establishing collective and efficient programs of struggle, and in implementing these into life.
